ParaffinWax together with an equal part of Microcrystalibe Wax, is used to preserve wooden hive boxes. A hive that has been paraffin dipped is expected to last up to 20 years.
For increased safety, best used with an equal part of Microcrystaline Wax to lower the flashpoint of the molten wax.

Incidentally: Dry rot is the term given to brown rot decay caused by certain fungi that deteriorate timber in buildings and other wooden construction without an apparent source of moisture.
